I am not sure it explodes. It more breaking up than explode, but this depends on the condition that made the plane fall in the first place.

Not necessarily. There was a video shot by a tourist of a plane that attempted a landing in the ocean right off the shore. He may as well have gone for the concrete because the plane was pretty well destroyed. However, it did not explode. Explosions are usually caused when fuel tanks rupture and the fuel gets near a spark or other flame. If you could see out the back of a jet engine, you may be able to see an occasional flame. That's what happens when aviation fuel burns.
So, you have a combination of flame and fuel.. seems like a natural for a fire doesn't it. Falling into water can sometimes prevent an explosion. As I said, the plan that crashed into the Caribbean didn't explode.

a plane can only explode if the fuel onboard is set free and have the chance to react with oxygen (air) AND there is an igniting source like a very hot surface or a a spark.
its unlikely that the airplane itself catches fire from an impact on water, because the parts being submerged soon after impact, hot surfaces instantly being cooled, and water would limit sparks too.
the 737 going down on water in this famous video did not have any more fuel onboard

Not from falling in water, although it may if crash is abrupt and the plane has a lot of fuel. It is possible to land a plane safely on the surface of water - it is called ditching the plane.

If it dives or spins in ( as distinct from landing on the surface of the water) the wings usually break off. I don't call breaking up exploding.

It has a lot of fuel that can burn. But Hollywood style explosions don't often happen in real life. Any impact is bound to shatter a plane into lots of little bits because planes are built to be light for flying. They are not very good at crashing.

It would probbaly break up rather than explode. At the speed it will be travelling, water is as hard as concrete.

depends on the speed but yes it can if they are going like really fast then the water seems like almost cement but it might break up before it hits but thats not what u asked for so i just gave you the answer u needed yes its possible. :)
