Dr Martin Luther King day is a legal holiday and all things that would be closed on Fourth of July will be closed. Specifically, banks, Post office, all government offices, etc. Supermarkets are probably open as are malls, movie theaters, etc.

In my area, Post Offices, banks, some schools and the libraries are closed. As is City Hall. And I tried to call an insurance company and they were closed, so I guess some other businesses are closed too. Supermarkets are opened as are malls.

Not everything is closed! Some public libraries are open, for example. Supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants and other retail places are generally open. However, other things are closed like the post offices, etc.

Government offices are closed. So are the banks. However, pretty much every grocery store, dept. store, etc. is open. In fact, in true holiday commercialized style, many of the stores are having an MLK sale.

most things like supermarkets are still open.
some business stay open (it's up to them) so you have some people that still have to go to work.
people working for the goverment don't have to work (with exceptions for things like police and firemen)
