It should be self-adjusting. If it doesn't grab, release it and reapply it several times. This should get it into adjustment. If it doesn't, something is wrong. Get it looked at.

it is self adjusting with the rear brake drums, if it don't work, the rear drums need replaced.
the cable underneath as mentioned by the person above, is NOT an adjusting cable, i have an s-10 and a blazer and I'm tellin ya the rear drums need replaced.

Iam gonna attempt to keep this one simple. Given that its just an 05' vehicle, iam putting my money on you just simply needing rear shoes to be replaced along with having the drums turned. When the rear breaks wear down the E-brake isnt gonna keep the car from moving. Thats just typical wear and tear it shouldnt be anything trivial to that.

There is a cable adjustment underneath the car, but would normally never be touched, and should not be. except by a professional.
