I have a solution. STOP SMOKING! You won't have to tell her a thing until she's a grown woman. If you keep on, telling her then dying at an early age from lung cancer will not help her one bit.

Yeah, you should tell her. The smell of what your smoking will be all over you and your belongings. Your not a bad mother if you tell her the truth, but you should stop smoking. The effects of it will be harmful for you. You should also take this into consideration: if your still smoking as your daughter grows up and she asks you to quit you should try as hard as you can. Don't smoke when you two are apart.

Why not quit smoking, and make it a non issue??

It can be done if you are determined--I'm over 2 years smoke free, and I smoked 2 cartons of Kools a week for 27 years. If I can beat that addiction, so can you!

Good luck.

YES!!! tell her, my dad smokes(he doesnt know that i know) and i think that its silly because its pretty obvious. Its not good to keep things like that from your kids, it ruins the trust.(i'm not trying to tell you how to parent, i'm only 16, i just wonder "if he is lying about smoking, what else is he lying about?") But if you do tell her than you should try and stop so you can be a good example.

Unless you wear an air freshener around your neck, she probably already knows or has an idea. You are an adult, it's silly to hide your behavior from your child. Just remember though when you try to tell her that she should not, the "do as I say, not as I do" isn't really an effective or appropriate parenting technique in that situation.

Quit smoking. I know it's hard. I quit... and I used to smoke A LOT. Don't tell her unless you also want her to end up smoking. Be the example of what you want your child to be/do.

She your kid, not your friend. Act like a parent. Tell her what she needs to know. If you smoke, it's your business, smoke in one room & if she don't like it tell her tuff-s***. Everyone has a vice of one sort or another, Smoking does not make you bad.

Yes. You shouldn't be smoking and if u do u ruin your life, but worst of all, her life. If u keep this secret longer she will get more and more mad at u when u finally tell her. Try Nicotine Gum to help u stop.

its not good to keep secrets like that from your children because they start to lose trust in you when they find out about it. the best thing you could do is stop smoking but if you cant you might as well just tell her.

why dont you try to stop smoking? then you can tell her that you once smoked, but you gave it up because you wanted to live longer for her and yourself. that would be a really good mother, true love and sacrifice.
