Check out wikipedia! There were a series of crusades. If you want a short answer to your question ... then - no. The Ottoman's conquered the most of the Roman empire and held it up until the 20 th century.

they conquered the middle east on the original crusade and then pacified it again but in the end they got tossed out ( which is why the area is Muslim not Christian )
