Tri-cyclic BC pills (also called tri-phasic) are not as good to use as mono-phasic pills, because they're constantly changing the type of chemicals that are being put into your body. If you want better coverage and fewer side effects get on a mono-phasic pill (like YAZ, LoEstrin, etc).

There is no proof that Ortho-tri cyclen Lo fails more than any other birth control, however some birth control methods including "the Pill" have higher risk in causing ectopic pregnancy. With that being said, keep in mind that no birth control method, besides abstinence, is 100%, and none besides condoms protect you from STDs and STIs....and condoms don't protect you all of those.... but that's a different topic.

The only method of birth control that is 100 percent effective is abstinence; all other methods vary. Most pills are 90-99 percent effective if you take them every day and don't skip them or forget to take them. Your pill is less effective because it has a lower dose of hormones than others, so you have to be sure to take it on time every single day. If you have to use antibiotics for a cold or sickness or if you forget to take your pill, you HAVE to use a backup method (condoms, spermicide, etc.) to prevent pregnancy (antibiotics can make the Pill ineffective). If you have any doubts or questions, it's best to talk to your gynecologist about what's best for you.

Sweets... NO BIRTH CONTROL IS 100% EFFECTIVE.. NOT EVEN CONDOMS OR THE SHOT...
So if you are going to have sex, be mature enough to accept the responsibilities of your actions.... IE: you get pregnant. Use 2 forms, such as the pill and a condom to protect not only against STD's, but also getting pregnant. Even if you dont want to use a condom, just do it. Its not worth being sick, or catching something that you can spread to others. That has to be an UNPLEASANT conversation...."yea I have this std, and pretty much if I sleep with you, you'll get it since its uncurable." So just be careful.
