While there are easily dozens of functional groups, I think the ones most biology courses refer to are alcohols, carboxylic acids, aldehydes, ketones, amines, and thiols.
Alcohol:
R - O
........\
.........H
Carboxylic acid:
......O
.......||
.......C
...../....\
...R.....O-
Ketone:
......O
.......||
.......C
...../....\
...R.....R'
Aldehyde:
......O
.......||
.......C
...../....\
...R.....H
Amine:
......H
.......|
.......N
...../....\
...R.....H
Thiol:
R - S
........\
.........H
Of course, your particular textbook may differ. Still, most of them are probably spot on!

Hydroyxl is R--OH
Carbonyl is R--C = O then add a single line going off C with a H on the end.
Carboxyl is R--C= O with another single line off C with a OH on end
Amino is R--N --H with another single line off N with an H on the end
Sulfhydrl is R--SH
Phosphate is R--O--P--O then have one single line going off the P with an O on the end, and then one more double line going off the P with an O on the end.
There you go if you need anymore help let me know.

Carboxylic acid- --C=O
\
O-H
Alkanes- --C-C
Alkenes- --C=C
Alkynes- C(triple bond)C
Amine- --N--C
\
H
Nitrile- C(triple bond)N
Alcohol- C-O-H
These are only just seven, there are a few more. Sorry that the ones with diagonal bonding angles are off a bit. But i'm sure there is one web site out there with much better info.
