If it's true, it really puts a damper on my long-term investment strategy.

According to The Mayas, there will be a huge change in the world in 2012 their calendar stops in this year. If we all die I believe our souls will be fighting for something somewhere else. And even if there are some other species left on the Earth, there won't be peace even without us, because in this world some have to die in order for others to live on. Real peace only in some other world.

12/21/12 is the end of the Mayan calendar. If some things end then I think it will be a shift in our thinking, not in all time. About that time is also when we will be mid-way through the polar shift. Things will change in and around that time, but don't expect it all to end. When the end comes it should be a surprise and we shouldn't waste a minute worried about it.

If the world ends, it won't be on an even date, or a predicted date, it will be random. When they said y2k, it was a ploy to make money off people thinking that their computers wouldn't work. It was so successful they tried to do it the next year too.

No, it's not true. Many people thought the world would end in 2000, that never happened. Many thought the world would end in the 1950s, well, that never happened either. Why should we bother trying to figure out when the end will come, then prepare for it, and then if it doesn't come when we though it was going to , well, then we've just wasted a large part of our life when we could have been living life to its fullest. I say, just live life, the end of all things will come, and when it does, raise your head and follow the Lord. God bless.

That's a religious prophecy unsupported by substantiated evidence. This is not a philosophical question. A better question would be: Does the world end when our lives end? Can we really tell if this is just an illusion created by the interaction of our brain with it's real state? This is a philosophical question.

My grandmother in her 70's told me there have been rumors of the world ending every since she can remember and the same thing for her mom, all the dates were different, etc. God clearly states no one will know when the world will end except for him.
