No, no, no! Keep this man away from the original trilogy because he made a big mess with the prequels. What could have been excellent films were turned into childish dirges of bad acting, poor character development and an over-reliance on CGI.
The original films are perfect as they are, especially since George Lucas might have come up with the idea but someone more experienced wrote the scripts that made the films so good.

No, he's already "remade" them enough with his editing changes to the original trilogy already.
I can only hope he doesn't get too involved with the writing for the new Star Wars tv series. I want it to have a shot at being good... I don't want another letdown like the prequels.
Recasting for new movies I could deal with (hello, Lucasfilm, expanded universe, hello), but not remaking the original ones.

Gosh-a-mercy, no!
He's already remade the original three or four times, with re-edits, new fx, cast changes, as you've mentioned. The man just can't stop tampering with his own movies.
Even with all of its faults, the first Star Wars in its original release version beats all of its sequels hollow.

No way, he'd ruin it. The newer movies have no where near the magic or chemistry the original ones did. He tried make up for it by adding a bunch of special effect that were overkill. They're classics, he should keep 'em that way.

Personally I don't see why we should ruin a masterpiece, but my friends and I have jokingly argued about who we would have play the parts, were they to ever remake it... heres my list.
-Luke: Leonardo DiCaprio(when he was youngerike in titanic, now though I don't think he could pull it off)
-Obi-wan: Ian McKellan
-Han Solo: Mark Whalberg
-Leia: Hilary Swank
-Lando: Jamie Foxx

No. The original was perfect. I don't like all the fancy visual effects from the new movies- they don't feel like Star Wars movies to me. If you change the old movies one bit, no one will like them.
