You just went from a tattoo to a sk8 board that is a big difference if you have money you can buy your own sk8 board and if you do not it seems as if it may be time to start doing some work to get that $$ and once you earn enough you can buy a sk8 board then start to save $$$ for your 18th birthday and go out and get a tattoo then :) good luck

Tatoos are permanent.
I would keep trying for the skateboard. You're 17 and they won't allow you to have a skateboard? They're pretty strict huh? What reason did they give you?

I can't help you at all with the tattoo part, I can just tell you that you do NOT want one. As for the skateboard, how about you save up your money and buy one on your own if your parents won't. You can't really always rely on them for money, especially when your 17. So, just buy it on your own. They can't control what you buy if it's your money.

Wait, wait, wait. Wait until you are older, period. I always told myself I would not get a tattoo until I turned 30. Then, if I still wanted one I would get it. So, I got one for my 30th bday and I love it. Your taste will change as you get older so make sure it's something you really want. Mine is well hidden for me and hubbie only to see.

start working on them early, and maybe you'll be able to convince them eventually. prove to them that you're responsible and it's something you really want. if it has a lot of meaning to you, they'll probably be more willing. if that doesn't work, shed some tears. make them feel sorry for you. make something really bad happen to you and then act depressed and like nothing will cheer you up but this specific tattoo. worked for me, twice:)
