We bought my car used and have driven it about 30,000 miles since--I have no clue what the previous owner did. Sometimes my car shakes when I first start it and I also don't know much about cars to know what all needs to be checked in your car to make sure it is working properly--what service can you get done that checks and make sure everything in your car is running smoothly? How much for each thing?

Do you have your car serviced regularly (oil change ETC.)? If not, I would HIGHLY recommend you start a 3-5k service schedule from this point forward, many problems like this may get caught when regular service work is done provided it's done by a COMPETENT technician. If you do have it serviced regularly, I would recommend simply mentioning the shaking problem to them next time you have it in to the shop. And doing a tune-up is usually a great idea anyway, even if the car was tuned up right before you got it 30,000 isn't a waste to have it done again anyway IMO, a little money spent on a quality tune up can improve your car's efficiency in most cases.

let start from the beginning.have a technician go through your car and see what cause the car shaking. after that look into your manual book and there is a schedule maintance that will show you when is the next service is due . this will eliminate guessing when is the next service. always follow the manufacture reccomendation NOT the dealerships

Yes, if you havent gave your car a tuneup in 30K miles then it is way overdue, im sure the last owner never gave it a tuneup, most people neglect their cars, never change the oil..... never change anything...ever.....and wonder why the car dies at 50K miles..... Take it and get a full tune-up and oil change.

how much does it shake? enough that you'd spill coffee out of a full cup? You might have faulty motor mounts. The motor (usually a pretty heavy piece of equipment....) shakes violently if not "secured" in place.
