You can try and get the dream back if you remember any of it by concentrating on it as you head for sleep. Sometimes you may be able to pick up the dream's thread.
A dream journal can be a great help in preserving some of the interesting places your mind wants to go while you're out--
However, there is the story about the man who woke up one night from a vivid dream, convinced he had solved one of the secrets of the universe--he grabbed his notebook and pen off his night table, scribbled down the incredible thought he had just experienced and fell back to sleep. When he woke the next morning, he found on the pad the hastily written message, "There's a funny smell in this room."
Good Luck, Good dreams!

Sometimes just relaxing and letting your brain go over some little part you can remember, or the feeling the dream evoked will trigger the memory.
Definitely keep paper and pen/pencil by the bed, but don't expect to be able to decipher it in the morning. I can never read mine!
Good Luck!

Absolutely keep a pad and pen next to your bed. And maybe if you relax, clear your mind, and try to think of that dream as you're falling asleep, you'll have it again.
See you at the Oscars.

I am so hearing you - this happens to me all the time!! People have told me to keep and pen and paper by my bed, but as Polly said, I can't decipher the jibberish I've written in the morning.
I think it was Richard Bach with Jonathon Livingstone Seagull and one of those great epic poems (Ulysses???) that was written from dream invoked inspiration........half their luck!

well, u dont have to. right when u wake up, try to trace past ur dream immediately. u might usually find some of the major parts. writing it might cause a bit more time, but u dont have to think a lot to remember the dream.
