Yes, sounds like a cop out to me, let him go plenty of nice guys out there that would be worthy of you who would be more respectful, honest & committed.

Give him all the space you can whilst you have the time of your life flirting and doing the things you could never do with him in your life.

I guarantee when he's had enough "space", you won't want him anymore.

Open the door and show him where the more space is located. When he leaves, close the door. If he tries to come back, tell him you haven't got enough space for him.
