The money cannot go directly to the minor. It would need to go to a Representative Payee, who is to use the money for the good of the minor. That might mean that the money goes to provide housing, food, or other necessities for the child.

Not every minor with a deceased parent gets Social Security.
If the parent worked long enough under a job that paid into the Social Security System, the surviving child(ren) can get a monthly benefit check. They will get this money until the month in which the child turns 18.

In addition, if the surviving parent earns under a certain amount, the surviving parent may also qualify for benefits.

It goes to the parent unless tha parent that died had it put in your name and if that happenes then you can get it if you are 18 if you are not 18 then you have to wait until you are !
