if you can get copies, the late great Spike Milligan rewrote some of the classics including Treasure Island and Robin hood. I think there were 5 in the series and the two mentioned which i have read are absolutely hilarious. However i will point out that if you havent read the originals then you might not appreciate the spoof versions as much.

HI. Got great book! Sounds naff but really good (not true life though). It's called "PS I LOVE YOU" by Cecelia Ahern. It's rather amusing and sad at the same time. Got recommended this in a book shop and went with it although doubts in my mind - not normally my kind of book!!! Pleasantly surprised. She's written 4 books now and read all 4 and they are all ACE.

Garlic and sapphires by Ruth Reichl.
As the New York Times's restaurant critic for most of the 1990s, Reichl was determined to review the "true" nature of each restaurant she visited, so she often dined incognito--each chapter of her book highlights a new disguise, a different restaurant (including the original reviews from the Times), and a fresh culinary adventure.

I totally recommend either 'Join Me' and 'Yes Man' by Danny Wallace. Really funny and hard to put down. With you on Peter Kay too!

Any of the James Herriot "Vet" series there are about ten or so, they were turned into a TV series. They are written by a real life vet and are hilarious, you can not put the books down once you start to read them.

Yes Man by Danny Wallace or try The Timewasters Letters by Robin Cooper is fantastic! Not quite autobiography but very very very funny.
