I am currently writing a novel for teens but can't think of where I should take the book. I would like it to be sad and the two main characters are madly in love. I don't know where to go. Please help. The setting is in Coronado, near San Diego, present time. I prefer no drugs, alcohol, suicide, etc. The girl just moved there and now school is starting. She is a sophmore. Troy, the other protaganist, is a junior and star of the football team. Characters are as developed as much as possible. This story is really important to me! People already gave me some good ideas and I"m thinking of combining a few together. Thank you! Everything helps. :) I'm from USA!

A naive girl puts a question a seemingly basic question and answer website. One person who answers seems to know everything about the woman. A system administrator for the website tries to track the man down for the woman. It turns out she falls for the administrator who says he is trying to find the guy. But the administrator is the stalker and he tries to kill her.Note* Use the questions and answers asked on the site as the basis for the chase, lure and climax of the story,Know what I mean?

How about a ghost mystery? The hotel Del Coronado is rumored to have a haunted room.

THE GHOST OF KATE MORGAN
What Victorian resort would be complete without a resident ghost? Kate Morgan checked into the resort on November 25, 1892, and never checked out. Reports of ghostly happenings have been circulating at The Del ever since, all thought to be connected to the death of this beautiful young woman.

You could have the two investigating the report of strange occurrences. Teens love this type of stuff.

If you want contemporary, try using IM instead of YA. Not many teens get on here and "hook up." Those that do, are so immature that they usually get reported or chastised for their whining, 90% of the time, their questions going under "Singles and Dating" and always something along the lines of "Does he/she really like me?"
And the movie "You've got mail" has already been made, so I think you're looking at a hard sell for any other crowd. Good luck with the attention span. IM, think about it, just a suggestion.

there is a guy, 35 yo. hes not that great but kinda witty in his own way.

he is involved with super hot latin-asian twins that are teenagers. they have a hot mom who he lives with. she doesnt know that they all have 3 somes in the shower after she goes to work.

the man doesnt work but drives really nice cars and hangs out by the pool all day.

one day mtv holds a new "real world" next door and the guy notices that one of the cast members is an incredibly beautiful virgin from the mid west.

the book chronicles his adventures with the women but culminates in a climatic ending where the women, seeking revenge, tie him up and begin torturing him but decide that although there is not that much of him to begin with... there is enough of him to go around and that sharing him would be better than not loving him anymore at all.

How about she goes to tijuana and becomes a prescription pill transporter. She saves a ailing ladies life by getting cheap medicine but is caught and forced into prostitution by the mexican mafia. The man who comes to be her customer is her dad from san diego, he saves her, but she dies.

Well, you want sadness, then perhaps one of them could become ill?

Maybe the girl has moved so that she could live with relatives because her parents died or her home life was abusive or just not real great.

Perhaps you could have racial, religious or other barriers that are standing between them?
