I'm always on the look out for FREE kid stuff too. Check out your local library. They have good programs for kids and they are free! For example: puppet shows, crafts, interactive workshops, reptile shows, book clubs etc.
Also, most museums and art galleries have free family nights or free kids days. Ask when they are happening.

We like to go to the park and the library a lot. Our library has lots of free programs for kids and teens - movie parties, craft nights, even DVD and CD swap parties. You can probably go online to your state's tourism board and look for things to do in your area, too.
