The computer itseld won't seem to turn on. The monitor simply shows the monitor settings box where you are allowed to adjust the picture and what not. Does any one have any ideas on what the problem could be? The computer just turned off on its own this afternoon and this is what happend when i tried to turn it back on.

if you don't hear any peeps...that will look like a Bios failure...which means that you have got to recharge the Bios....to do so take your computer to a computer company....

why did i say so?
1.you said you can hear the fan,,,that means the motherboard is conducting electricity, so it didn't boom.
2.you said you can see the cd rom lighting that means the power supply is ok....

It depends on which O/S you are using, if it is a linux system, it would appear that your screen resolution is not set properly for your graphics card, so you need to hit ctrl,alt, and then either the plus or minus sign, depending on whih way the res needs to be adjusted. If it is windows, I'd suggest trying to reseat your display adapter card or if its integrated, try a new graphics card.

I have to ask this, is your monitor turned on?
If so is your monitor connected and are the connections clean?
If so then well your guess is as good as the next
