same bedroom, but have their own beds. Can I have my children taken away because of this? Some states do have laws saying that once a child is a certain age they can no longer share a bedroom with opposite sexs siblings. Is it the same in california? or are there any laws regarding opposite sex siblings in the same bedroom?

No... that is ridiculous... your children will not be taken away from you.

Your best bet would probably be to contact whoever your child welfare agency is in your area, they would have the answer to that. You're right in that there are laws regarding that, but they may vary from state to state. I live in Illinois and the law here is that siblings can not share a room if they are the opposite sex once the oldest is over the age of 5.
I doubt they would take your children away just for that if there is nothing else wrong in your home, if you happened to get caught by them (which I would think is highly unlikely unless there is a reason someone would call the services on you) they would more than likely just warn you against it and tell you they needed to be seperated.
I have had friends with sons and daughters sharing a room and other then the kids wanting there own rooms, everything was fine.

I have heard of a law that says opposite sex children cannot share a room after a certain age, and I think the age is when the oldest reaches 12 years old or age of maturity, meaning they are aware of sexuality. Check with the local county Department of Health Services or the police department, they should be able to tell you.

There are no laws stating this in the US, to my kowledge. I have read on forums that most parents feel 10-12 yrs of age they should have separate bedrooms, but that's only suggestion, not law. But I do know that there are laws regulating sharing rooms for foster children and in some states for adopting children.

No, but there is going to be a time when it will be inappropriate for them to share rooms!

They usually fall under the child protection act and almost all states are very similar as they used the federal guidelines when the were written to include mandatory reporters in the 1970's!

Don't you think that boys and girls should not share a room at some age?

Never heard there was a law but after a certain age, it isnt appropriate for the two to share a bedroom. When they do reach that age, you will need to seperate them.

I've never heard of this in California. I'd suggest checking with the childrens protective services, just as a precaution if you are truly concerned about this issue. I'm sure they'd have the answer you're looking for.

i believe the age is 12 years. but check with the local child services. worst case senario, someone reports you to CPS, CPS has an in house interveiw, tells you to fix it and will come back in 6 months.

If there was such a law, people would take out their legislators and shoot them.
