You realize that the erergy required for time travelling is enourmous. If even possible. You will possibly have to accelerate to speeds that are faster then light. That is not like hitting the gas pedal. It has to be done in space, over a period of years or decades to accelerate to light speed. And then you have to go faster then light. And once you've travelled back in time, you would have to travel back to earth. And you would have to do it at sub luminal speeds. You would possibly arrive after you left.

Time travel is a very scientific subject, but if the article is for the shcool science magazine, you might consider a topic that is a little more "everyday", something like how sidewalk salt, convection ovens, or aerosol cans work, or maybe how a water softener helps soap work better.
If you really want to stick with time travel, you can certainly run with that for a while. There is plenty of info out there, including some analogies and scenarios that can help you to start thinking of the speed of light as the constant in our universe, instead of time.

My opinion:
Time travel is not a very applicable subject for your paper - it's all obscure theories and speculation - not really very scientific.
And if you are really hard core about this paper on time travel, you could write about the different rates of time concerned with the theory of Relativity and why you would return much younger than your twin brother after a you took a trip through space at speeds approaching those of light. It's called the "Twin Paradox" - and it's proved to be correct!

Einstein was not able to explain it to us, and you want to write a 3-5 page paper on it. Scratch that idea! Write about why the sky is blue, why does it rain, what causes a tornado, how colors work, what is electricity? If you really want talk about time travel, focus on the concept of speed and that is still too complicated in my opinion.

I wouldn't write about time travel because it doesn't really exist. Unless you want to talk about why it is impossible to travel into the past and why it is possible to travel into the future(via special relativity). Of course tis would nessicate you trying to learn an entire subject just to write a paper. That's not fun.
