Treat wood for mold, mildew, or fungus, first, then paint it if you wish. Good luck.

You can try sprinkling some baking soda in them and let them sit for a few days....or scrub them with a mix of baking soda and water. The baking soda soaks up odors.

Best way is to paint them.
