Not sure. I think its all the eye of the beholder. My boyfriend loves it when my hair is down, he loves my curly hair. And alot of people give me compliments on my curls, only when its down.
My mother, however gives me compliments when i put it up. I always had short hair, but i have been growing it for going on two years now. and says to me "see how much better it looks up?"

I've found that most men like their girlfriends to look natural. When I go without makeup and my hair is down, my boyfriend compliments me. However, if I wear makeup and put my hair in a ponytail, my boyfriend takes the ponytail out. I think it all depends on the personal preference of the guy but my boyfriend admires natural beauty.

I think it has a lot to do with the shape of ones face and how others view it. Not everyone can get away with putting their hair up or vice versa.

Me too, but when its up my face looks kind of pudgy also
