Red Cabbage Juice! Seriously. Buy several heads of red cabbage and put them through the juicer. You'll need lots of it.

Red cabbage juice is like litmus paper and you can use it to tell how acidic or alkaline a substance is. It will turn all sorts of various colors depending on the acidity of a substance. Experiment with different household substances, such as laundry detergent and bleach, until you make a whole rainbow of colors. When you get to school, set up a row of 6 or 7 cups of the juice while you explain the whole litmus paper thing. Then using different substances, household chemicals, etc. show how the juice turns different colors.
