I live in a cul-de sac which has two entrances to it, one by road and one where cars cannot get through.(it is alot quicker to use this route, if on foot).
All the rubbish bins are situated near the close off entrance, this is because it is a lot easier for the rubbish van to pick up from, as it doesn't have to menouver through a tight spots, also because I think that they are lazy and can't be bovvered to drop the bins off in the correct place.
Because of this, everybody just uses anybody's bin(which ever one is empty and nearest.
No one recycles because no-one has got any of them blue/black/green tubs.
plus they would never get picked up.
Most of the people I have spoken to said they would like to recycle more, but because of the situation can't.
Do you think the council should do something about this?
What will happen when we get charged for our own waste?

The whole recyling thing is a fiasco - the government is just waiting for us to slip up (you know, put a piece of paper in the wrong bin) so they can fine us of course, spending a few thousand more of tax payers money in court cases to do so.

Frankly i am getting quite fed-up as well. I and most of the neighbours recycle and try our best at it. BUT, the bin will be full-up by the end of the week and sometimes they only empty them every second week. Another thing that grates my liver is the people who shreds their important papers etc, why can they not put it into a plastic bag and then into the bin so when they empty the bins the road does not get covered with the shredded paper. AARRGGHH feel like a good nag today.

I don`t see how your council can charge you for not re-cycling,(which is what the intended charges are for) if they havn`t provided you with any re-cycling facilities. Where I live we have 3 large sulo wheelie bins. A black one for rubbish that can`t be re-cycled, a green one for all re-recyclables (except glass), and a brown one for garden waste. They are collected once a fortnight, the black one, one week and the green and brown the next. We have reduced our `rubbish` to one swing bin bag a week. (There are only 2 of us now.) Our council is very hot on re-cycling. We even have a Re-cycling Officer! I think you should lobby yours.

Get in touch with your local councillor about this and see what they can do. Many councils offer recycling collections so why not yours ????? xxxxx
