i'd advise you not to. there are people just watching to see who throws around money so they can rob you.
if you want to help people, and i'd applaud that, see what they are begging for. if they say they are hungry, go buy a lil bit of food and take it to them. or if you feel you want to use your money to help those in need, give donations to organizations.
but either way, i feel it's always important to help others, but always be concious of what is around you and those lookign to take advantage of you.
have a great week.

Take small things like pencils, socks etc and hand those out instead you shouldn't be encouraging the locals to expect hand outs. Sounds harsh but it's not if something happens in that country and tourists stop coming what will they depend on.
However if you are taking photos of them and their property give them a dollar or two. It's only fair.

If you have a giving heart do it but, always have your donation ready in your pocket, never take your wallet out in front of them. My brother had his snatched in Bangkok while fiddling around for change. If it makes you feel good inside by giving, just be a bit cautious and alway have it ready. Enjoy your next trip.

no-never let them see how much money you have. they could rob you or be using children as a ploy to get your money and just turn it over to adults-kind of like pimps.
