I'm thinking about going to college in California and I need to know how long it takes to become a resident so I can pay the in-state tutition instead of the out-of-state expenise tutition.

One year.

I got my PhD at UC-Berkeley. I had a fellowship my first year. I had aid for everything the second year -- except I would have to pay the out-of-state premium if I did not qualify as a resident.

I did qualify. However, you have to provide proof that you remained in the state during holidays, etc.

if you dont want to pay out of state taxes you have to live here for at least 1 year...CA colleges are much more expensive than alot of other states

it takes 6 month and it only takes 1 month to be a part of a city, if you all ready have been a califoria guy from a nother city. so surfs up dude,
