Versus how many of you out there just support it because it's a free paid day off?

I think holidays don't mean anything anymore in this country, they have become either a) just commercialized events or b) free days off from work for most people.

Thoughts?

Let us get this out in the open.

MLk I feel was good man. I think he tried to get America to recognize a group in society that has contributed greatly to society and was obviously being slighted.

However, I do not feel that a holiday in his honor is fulfilling his dream. When his people are living beneath American standards, unemployment is not good for many, some of the boys and men walk with their pants hanging below their buttocks, his dram is not being realized.

They need to stop asking for reparations, which does not exist, and ask for things that will get adult men and women out of poverty, better schools, better health care.

The purpose of the day is to realize his dream. It is now become a place guilt on the white person day so that the "black elite" can get a bit more extortion money out of the government.

It is time to stop and get serious about race relations. White people cannot be the race scapegoat for all that has happened since the Europeans arrived on these shores. Nor can any of us deny that racial disparages still exist in some form or another.

It is time to really progress, LIBERALS. Not hate America.

God bless us all in America.

every physique i've got primary thinks that's trip. all of us be responsive to who MLK exchange into, particular he delivered advancements in human rights and equality, yet every physique is greater desirous approximately no remember if the motor vehicle is packed for the weekend holiday. in spite of race, call yet somebody else who exchange into not a president who have been given an afternoon named after them. And MLK exchange into not assassinated. He exchange into murdered. Assassinations shop on with to royalty and presidents. yet we shop on with this to MLK.

people in the "real world" work today as most other "federal holidays"

i think the day serves as trying to divide us more instead of bringing everyone together. it's really like the gov is throwing the black population a bone and saying here's your day oh and don't forget you have a whole month in february to celebrate your differences. i find the day dedicated to MLK as well as all the other monuments, etc. dedicated to him to be patronizing instead of true genuine dedication.

Well many people don't get the holiday off. The holiday is really only for government workers. I also now refer to MLK day as the holiday, because if people don't believe in MLK day, they might get offended, and God forbid we offend anyone.

We have lost a sense of value to just about everything in this country holidays included. I miss the old days when you put a value on everything which made everything more meaningful.

I have done quite a bit of thinking about MLK and his dream, today. The conclusion I have arrived at, is that MLK is spinning in his grave at PC.
