My girlfriend has driven from Las Vegas to San Francisco. She says agrees with a prior answer in that it takes about 8 hours to drive between the two cities.

You can make it in 7 if you take the back roads. 580 to the 5 to the 99 to the 57 or 37 (through tehachapi) to the 15 to Las Vegas. Sorry, reverse that.

The route used is the "classic" route via the San Joaquin Valley. The major portions (I-15, CA-58, I-5 and I-580 are all major, milti-lane freeways with plenty of gasoline stations and food outlets along the way.

Mapquest says it takes 8 hours, 48 minutes to get from Treasure Island in Vegas to City Hall in San Fran. Adjust accordingly.

I've driven that route many times. It takes anywhere between 8-10 hours. I would say more like 8 though. 10 is if there's traffic anywhere in between.

Depends on your speed, daytime or nighttime and how many times you stop for a rest. It usually takes me about 10 hours from the bay area. It is safer to stop every hour or so and get out and stretch your legs.
