I've been told a number of things about green tea. Some of them are odd, others sound too good to be true.

1) Is green tea a form of marijuana? Will it get you high?
2) Will 2 cups of green tea a day help you lose weight?
3) Since the market is flooded with green teas right now, how to determine which one has the most benefits?

Green tea has nothing in common w/ marijuana except that they are both green plants.

Two cups of green tea a day is not very much. If it is the only thing you do to accelerate weight loss, you're not likely to notice any difference. But, in conjuction w/cutting out some junk food and getting a little more exercise, it can help.

I like to buy my tea from Simpson & Vail. They have all types of teas "in bulk" and sell by the ounce. The whole leaf teas are fresher, less oxidized and so more potent. Check out their online catalog: http://www.svtea.com/foundations/store/scresults.asp?nav=6,48,280 (This link goes to GREEN tea - they sell all sorts)

Or, check out the offerings at your local health food store or herb shop. Some of them sell whole leaf tea. Good brands are Frontier & Starwest. They ALL sell diet products with green tea in them.

Green Tea is the same as any other tea but it is not oxidized as long as other teas are. Believe it or not, the Lipton black tea you buy from the grocery store is the same as green tea but allowed to oxidize longer (turns black)

1. No, green tea is not from marijuana and will not make you high
2. Clinical trials conducted by the University of Geneva in Switzerland indicate that green tea raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation. In addition to caffeine, green tea contains catechin polyphenols that raise thermogenesis (the rate at which calories are burned), and hence increases energy expenditure.
There is also a suggestion that it can increase endurance in exercise by improving fat metabolism (wikipedia)
3. Green tea is not a magic cure all. The best bet would be to go with one you like. Try a bunch and find out. Tea has many quailities in it that helps bodily function and since all teas come from the same plant, the variations are all beneficial.

Stay away from teas that contain sugar or corn syrup. Those products usually advertise green tea in the ingredients to ensnare consumers into thinking they are beneficial but in actuality, they are not too different from soda.

Green tea is an anti oxident which is one of the healthiest things you can take. Most ommerical brands, like Lipton are not so good because they contain sugar or corn syrup. Fuze is better because it contains polyphenol which is the active ingredient.
So make sure the green tea contains polyphenol.
If green tea was a form of marijuana i doubt it would be on the grocery store.
green tea can possibly be good in losing weight as long as you are not eatting fatty or junk foods.

1) Not True
2) True, or so it helped with me..
3) try to get brands that offer the leaves in a "leafy" form, they cut them into pieces & just dry them, so as u put them in boiling water they get back to the size & u smell the great aroma... the smaller particles are less benificial.

Hope I helped.
