How can you tell exept a big belly

You have the answers above, there will be a half moon shaped spot appear in front of thier anal vent, and they'll get really fat. Unfortunatly the fish coloring may mean you can't detect the first way.
For the swords I thing the easiest way to tell if thier pregnant is to ask yourself a few questions.
Are all the fish heathy?
Is there a male in the tank?
Then odds are she's pregnant, expect visitors in about ten days (guessing since I'm not there). When you see she's skinny again, get very close to the tank and look at eye level across the gravel and you sould be able to see some of the babies hiding.

A big belly is the only way that I know of.

usually their belly get really big.They also get a black spot near the anal fin. Good Luck.
