..we were talking about this in school briefly and women have fought for our rights and equality in society for years and now it is sort of backfiring with the possibilities of drafting women..what do you think?

Equality means just that, Equals...you cant have an advantage and claim equality, women should be just as susceptable to the draft as men...

I wouldn't call it 'backfiring' just because getting drafted sucks. You can't take the good without the 'bad'. I think it's only fair that women get drafted as well but personally I see a few problems with it. I don't know about other women but I'm not exactly that strong and I don't know how well I could drag around the added pounds when in combat. I'd have to rest more often and I don't feel like I can rely on my physical strength to save myself or others. Also, I've got issues with my period where I need to be near a friggin toilet all day long (puking, etc..) and I need to be loaded up on pain killers to even walk. I don't know how I'd deal with that in combat. I'd probably be fine as long as I wasn't out in the "sh*t", fighting and running all day long.

If a woman is physically fit and able bodied, I don't see any reason why she shouldn't be drafted. It's only fair. It's not like men are begging to be drafted either.

I do firmly believe that if women wish for equality in the world, then they should serve in the armed services to the same extent as men. If a man can be sent to fight in a war without choosing to do so, why shouldn't women? If there is a draft then both men and women should be drafted and sent, otherwise men deserve the extra wages they earn because they are obviously better. Which is not my opinion that men are better, just the fact that equal is totally equal, not just the good.
