For the most part air intake systems are mainly for looks. If it was that easy to improve the power the manufacturers would have already done it.

Plus some systems that are poorly designed can actually lower your power by pulling in hot air from the engine compartment.

I recommend you do some research on the specific system that you want to install and see if it is what you are looking for.

Keep in mind that most people like to justify their purchases so everyone that says that they have tons more power doesn't mean it is so. Try to find car articles that actually dyno tested the product and can show an improvement.

Yes they are mainly for looks and give you the growl sound. Depending on how much horsepower you have now will determine how much you gain. At 100 HP you will gain like 2-3 HP. 200HP gain 5-7 HP. At 300 HP gain 15-20HP, it also depends on your exhaust system, with a stock exhaust you will get minimum gains.

You might be OK if you just change the air cleaner housing if there are no sensors attached to it.You're messing with a sensitive part of your engine.Unless you're a professional and really know what you are doing.you're going to end up with a crappy running motor.that's going to burn up all of your gas.you.re better off changing the exhaust to change the sound of the car without messing with the catalytic converters.

I assume you mean cold air intake. Check performance magazines at any corner store and see if there are any consumer articles on them.
