Lle de Re near La Rochelle is an excellent place for cycling.
If you want places to explore there's the Dordogne valley with its chateaux and grottos.
There's also plenty of decent spots in northern Italy.
Then there's Limassol on Cyprus, bit of a dump but there are cheap cruises round the eastern med, where else could you get to see the Egyptian pyramids from in Europe?

Try Glasgow in Scotland - it's got everything. Shopping, great architecture, excellent night life and friendly natives. Edingburgh is also easily accessible with trains every 15 minutes and you can get out to the countryside easily and see some breath taking scenery.
I'm probably biased being a Glaswegian but it is a great city.

Amsterdam is a Must-See! Free yur mind, enjoy biking around, watch some amazing paintings, if you have time go to the beach.
You might also want to consider visiting the 'Deltaworks Project' in the Netherlands. Big structures, vaste landscape, beach, levees, nature... away from the crowded cities.

If you want to party and just have an overall good time, Amsterdam's the way to go... If you're looking for a cultural experience Paris or Rome are great options. I prefer marijuana to monoliths, but that's just me. ;-)
