I was supposed to get my period on Saturday and don't want to keep spending a bunch of money on expensive HPTs. I bought some tests at the dollar store, and still got a negative this afternoon. Has anyone had any luck on the dollar store versiong? And is it super crucial that the sample be taken in the morning?

Dollar Store pregnancy tests work just as well as the cheapest ones you find at say Wal-Mart. With Dollar Store tests you run the chance of finding default ones more likely than you would with a regular one. My suggestion is not to worry yet. It was only Saturday. It's now just Monday. Sometimes you can run a little late, or early depending on stress, weather, activity, and more. I would say that five should be a good start if you are really worried about the dollar store pregnancy tests. Good luck sweetie.

You would have to miss a period for a day or two in order for the hormone levels (hCG) are high enough to register on the tests. The dollar store ones are made of the same types of tests the expensive ones are so that shouldn't make a huge difference. Your period may be early and light because you've missed a tablet and took another one late in the day. Wait a week, if you still feel exhausted more than a normal college student would be at this time of the semester, take another test and the dollar store one is fine. You could also drop by the college clinic, they usually offer preggo tests for free. Is it possible that you are knocked up? Yes, but it's too early to tell anyway. You've taken the pills consistently since 3 and 1/2 weeks ago until earlier this week, then you probably are not. Sperm lasts about 7 days in the vagina, after that they die off.

Yes I did. One was negative and one was positive. I bought about 5 more and most of them said positive and I turned out to be preganant. Get a couple and use them for a few days to be sure. If you get one positive you know that you are. Good Luck!

I know someone who found out they were pregnant from a Dollar Tree test, i have heard also from other people that they work the same as any other

Dollar Tree tests always worked for me! And I test any time of day, usually a few days after my missed period.

I've never used them. But I have heard just awful things about them. Mostly just a lot of false results. Wait a couple more days and if still no period then use the money and get a value pack if you want!!!

YEP:) I took mine at a random time in the day, from the Dollar Tree.........$1.00. It was positive, I am now due in less than two weeks!! Good Luck, and yes, they work just fine.

Yes My dr told me they work just the same... that all tests have to be up to a certain standard. I used one to find out I was PG so I know it works! and the Digi ones suck!

no, you do not have to take them in the morning and they work just as well as the expensive ones. you just have to watch the expiration date on the dollar store ones.

I have used them a few times and they were accurate, the best one that I have found is the equate one from walmart.
