canada doesnt really "own" any of the great lakes. they do own part of Huron, Ontario, Erie and Superior. Lake Michigan, however, is entirely in the US.

I live on Lake Erie and I know for a fact that the border between the USA and Canada runs east-west down the middle of the lake.
