Must you take it in to have it reset or can you just disconect the battery, or hold down the odometer button for a certain amount of time. I've noticed that by turning on and off the ignition to ACC or by pressing the odomoter button and holding it in like 5 or 6 times a bunch of crazy numbers come up like 111111 or 77777

Disconnect the negative battery Cable for a few minutes. Those crazy numbers you see are trouble codes,they are going to make your check engine light come on until you get the faults corrected.
