ie: new york is the big apple, LA is the city of angels(although that one is pretty self explanatory)
is there a site or something that i can use to see..not only these 2 states but other ones too.

I honestly don't know if there is such a website. but I've heard that NYC got the nickname The Big Apple from traveling vaudeville troupes. Apparently, New York was a desirable venue, and the pinnacle was to appear at the Palace Theater.
Then, of course, there's my old stomping grounds, Philadelphia, or as we call it 'Philly.' That's another that's pretty obvious, being just a shortening of the name. Besides, it's a lot less trouble than to say City of Brotherly Love!
