John Doe has it all wrong - well - part of it anyway...
It is true that it is imperative that you must have a very strong and committed relationship for swinging to work. Our friends all agree, that having started out being very committed, and simply want to share fun and exciting times with other like-minded couples, it actually brings the relationship to a higher and even stronger level.

The part that is wrong, is that one runs the risk of cheating.
Au Contraire! (For those of you who don't understand French: It's the opposite...), if you are open and honest, and have a strong relationship, and you happen also to be a swinger, the risk of cheating is virtually eliminated! All one of the partners needs to do, is point, and say "Honey, I'd like to take him/her home and "do" him/her", and usually, if the "him/her" in question is intereasted, that's exactly what happens. No need to having an attraction to someone, and then go sneaking around - just do it! Like Nike says.

Swinging can be a huge enhancement to an otherwise already active and exciting sex life, and it is such a turnon to watch one's partner "getting it" from someone else, knowing just how good it feels - and knowing that "he or she is MINE - you are only BORROWING that... "

We enjoy it, and will continue until we get bored with it - then we'll take a break from it, until we get interested again.

Technically, the definition of swinging is "a married or otherwise committed couple that engages in sex with other couples and singles." Sooo... technically to be a swinger you have to be married or otherwise in a similarly committed relationship. Singles are just having "casual sex". LOL

How many couples swing? It is estimated around 10 million people in the world are active swingers. This works out to about 1 in every 1,000 adult couples actively engage in swinging. I don't know where you are, but that works out to a little more than one swinger couple per 2 square miles in my metropolitan area.

It's a huge risk, meaning that unless you've been together for a while and your relationship is ROCK SOLID, you risk creating/experiencing feelings of jealousy or performance anxiety.

Too many couples have the mistaken impression that
"swinging" will fix some sort of problem they're having, and most of the time, it only makes it worse.

It's hard enough to find two people today that work well together as a couple - whether they just live together or get married - imagine how difficult it is to find FOUR people who could mesh.

And all too often, the men are just delighted at the prospect of having sex with someone OTHER than their partner, but for women, it's different; they're not that crazy about taking another man INTO their body, just for the sake of some additional sex.

The numbers are hazzy because of discretion, but there are estimates of 10 million in the world, and 10 million in the US, also 20 mill in India and another 10 to 15 mil in Europe
as hazzy as that sounds I think that works out to about 1 in 30 or 1 in 1000 depending on whose figures you go by! Any way you look at it, it is a lot more common then most realize.
(3 somes and 1 time flings push the numbers a lot higher than that)

A couple needn't be married to be in the lifestyle...it can be a lot of fun, if your relationship is in the right place and VERY secure.

Now I have a live in GF(w/child) she is bi and has many girl friends that visit.
It's what ever works for you and your partner.
