The more powerful versions of the 106 (Rallye, XSI, even the XT) had 4 studs. Try to source a set of brakes/hubs from one of these versions as that will be the easiest (and safest) method - you'll still be using parts designed (and tested) by the manufacturer to work with the other components of your car.

Yeah, just replace the studs. They cost about $3 a piece or so. Do the short one too, as there's probably not as much thread contact as there should be. The stud should go all the way through the nut. That, or get a thread file for that pitch, but that's really tedious, and will cost as much or more as a pair of new studs. It's too much of a hassle to "remove the whole rotor"? Holy crap, that's lazy! Maybe you should just wave your magic wand over it? LOL Yeah, it's not likely they'll do for free something that you find too much of a hassle to do yourself. Besides, there's like a hundred different sizes. Most shops would have to order them in.

I remember once talk of type approval for vehicles, where making modifications such as the one you suggest would not be permitted, indeed at one point it was proposed that you could only replace the tyres with the same model as was approved with the vehicle.
Don't know what happened to this directive.

The mod you propose might make the vehicle unroadworthy - indeed you would have a hard time convincing the authorities that it was safe.

It will affect your insurance - tell them - they may charge you more - don't tell them - your insurance becomes invalid and you risk going to prison if you drive the car on the road.

the 106 xsi had 4 bolt hubs but to change this u also need to modify the drive shafts because they have different splines to yours so u would need to get somebody to weld 2 half together. more hassle than its worth.

You have 2 choices ; either have your hubs drilled for your new wheels or get replacement hubs. I strongly recommend replacing the hubs.

If it has only 3 then that's all you need.
