Depending on how far along you are they may do nothing. I was about 8 weeks along when I had a miscarriage. All they did was a vaginal ultrasound to confirm the unviable embryo. After that I had the intense cramping and bleeding at home. If you are farther along or if you won't stop bleeding they may do a D & C. They usually give you anesthetic before performing that. I'm sorry for your loss.

I have what they call "silent miscarriage"...no bleeding, no cramping.
The doctor will perform a sonogram to confirm a heartbeat.
Also they usually will do a blood test to see what the hcg levels are. The levels will go down if you are miscarried.
If this is confirmed, they will probably perform a D & C to clean your uterus out. If they do that, they will put you under for about 5 minutes, and you will leave in a couple of hours. It is pretty painless, just cramps for two or three days.

im sorry to here you might be having a miscarriage, i had a miscarriage 4 years ago so i know how you might be feeling, if the miscarriage does'nt come naturally then you will have to go into hospital like i did, i had to have a minor op and u probably would to you should only be there for the day and the procedure does'nt hurt you go under a general anestetic so you wont feel anything i hope this has helped you and i am very sorry for you.

well i had a miscarriage and my sister had two so i know alittle bit about them. my sister went to the hospital the first time and they told her that it would just happen naturally and they couldn't do anything but wait it out, then for the second one it happened soon after the first they did a D & C b/c they thought that maybe she wasn't really pregnant the first time but that the tissue had reconnected so they kept her to do that and ran a few blood test on the stuff they took out-b/c she was then considered high risk for it being her seond.
i didn't go to the hospital for mine b/c i figured they would just tell me to go home like they did my sister, i started spotting and called the dr they said it was usual al ot of women bleed in the begining but it kept getting worse so i called them back they told me to go get a blood test (so i did) then it was the holiday so i had to wait it out the night before thanksgiving i woke up in the middle of the night in the worst pain or my life (worse then when i delivered my child) the cramping hurt so bad it was unbelieveable, but i figured i was losing the baby right then so after a few days i went ot the dr offfice on monday, he said to go get my blood work done i did and came back to the office he said that i had lost the baby but when he looked at me (examined) it hadn't come out all the way so he pulled what was still in out and put it inside these litttle containers- it was painful as well and extremely uncomfortable. then they did an ultra sound shortly later to make sure everything was out (i hated that, b/c i never got to see the baby with an ultrasound before i miscarried, i didn't want them to do one after it was gone).
well i hope that helps a little and i hope everything goes ok.
good luck and take care

let you know what they are saying to attend four-6 months after to provide your frame time to heal, and that i actually used to be going to try this, however i finished up pregnant only a couple weeks later i had a miscarriage January thirtieth 2005 and used to be pregnant once more Febuary eleventh 2005. i had my son at 30 weeks as a result of an incompitant cervix (which used to be additionally the motive for the miscarriage) he weighed 3lbs nine ouncesand now he's 17 months and 31 lbs! so its as much as you, you'll be able to wait and allow your frame heal or you'll be able to take a look at once more instantly. a few individuals say that should you get pregnant instantly after a misscarriage you are going to do it once more and that i wish you to understand, that it isn't real i suggestion the identical factor and the medical professional checked out me like i used to be loopy! LOL so take a look at to not fear approximately that and do what's pleasant for you! and your well being! pleasant of success

If you think you're having a miscarriage you should go to the doctor ASAP, not sitting on yahoo answers trying to be diagnosed by a bunch of strangers. Miscarriages can take any where from a 1/2 hour to a couple of hours and if you go to the doctor most likely they will vacuum it out, which is painful, but its better than sitting on the toilet in pain for hours. Go get help...now

what makes you think that you are miscarrying?

I had very heaving bleeding right after I found out that I was pregnant. It was heavy as period and I alot of clots came out. I was sure that I was miscarrying but I didn't. And the dr said bleeding could be normal. It just depends on the person. I hope you are not miscarrying. good luck

they will do normal blood tests.... and if you are they will give you pain meds. Also maybe an US and Pap exam.

But you do really need to go... soon!
