Pretty much, and it continues to encourage the world toward a global hegemony dominated by three economic power blocks - NAFTA, ASEAN and the EU. The very concept of nationality will soon erode into little more than a cultural quirk good for tourism dollars.
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

No - we are only now approaching the level of globalization and free trade reached before WWI -- when reading your history books, does it seem like the nation-states were eroded?
Granted, some of the players WERE eroding empires like the Ottoman empire and Tsarist Russia.

No. After that huff and puff of anarchists it's not made a great deal of difference. So I have to speak some Indian cold caller on the phone rather than a Geordie - I can still treat them the same. IE Slam the phone down.

That is one of the reasons for the EU. It is the politicians way of increasing their power base. Politicians hate losing power, and left wing politicians hate Capitalism. So, they are conspiring to try to control the Capitalists. Of course, to achieve this, they are quite happy to destroy the Nation State. And they are trying to achieve just that, aren't they?

Globalization is nothing more than globalized affirmative action.
it is a band-aid to compensate for greedy selfish people and corporations.
it is an excuse for lazy individuals and even nations to avoid shortcomings of their society. but, like I always say...
..."gotta share the wealth".

Not at all. Nations can do most anything they please, as long as it doesn't affect trade, and that leaves a lot of territory open.
