Why? Entrepreneurs wish to develop a usable system, so that this problem can be solved. Of course, they have hopes to earn money too.

Here is what I suggest for a solution.

Firewall - if you use a router, check the firewall settings. If you use Windows XP with SP2, then use the included Windows Firewall. if you do not have XP with SP2, then pick the free Zone Alarm from http://www.zonelabs.com

Anti-virus - I recommend the plain version of Norton Anti-virus. But do not get any of the advanced versions... they are slow as heck. It's top rated. But again, count on Symantec only for their anti-virus solution.

Adware & SpyWare - I recommend a spyware cleaner. I like using a combination of Ad-aware and SpyBot Search & Destroy. Both are top rated. These are primarilly manual scanning software. Ad-aware scans files and SpyBot scans your registry. This double whammy is awesome. Visit http://www.download.com and get the FREE versions.

Popups - I do not recommend a third party popup blocker. That only hides a real problem. But a good browser has a good popup blocker. So I recommend that you get FireFox and do your general browsing with that. Get that from http://www.mozilla.com But keep Internet Explorer 6, since it is the only thing that can download Windows Updates.

Yes, you need some updates. I recommend TURNING OFF Windows Update, but get them manually and PICK the proper updates for you and your computer. I recommend against an arbitray upgrade to Internet Explorer version 7, since it does not work with some software. But I also recommend against Windows Media Player 11, since it too has trouble with some software.

Cookies and Internet Cache - I recommend that you use Disk Cleanup. Simply pick everything that it finds and allow it all to get removed. Then use the CHECK NOW feature for each hard drive. Just right click on that drive, and pick PROPERTIES. Click on TOOLS and the CHECK NOW button. After running a full scan, then use DEFRAG.

Good luck and Happy Computing.

For years, McAfee and Norton were the two power-houses in anti-virus. They're both OK, but I think Avast is the best one. It's new and has a free trial. The best part is it is spyware detector/remover and antivirus in one package. Norton and McAfee sell their spyware remover separate from their antivirus.

You can download it at http://www.avast.com/

It doesn't have firewall though. All you need for that is a good router and Windows XP firewall should be good enough. If you have to choose between McAfee and Norton, I prefer Norton but they're both pretty much equal.

Finally, if you want detailed reviews check out CNET.com and click on software then security for detailed reviews.

AVG loose version 7.5 is the latest AVG version and it additionally alerts you if an endemic is on your computing device and be asked to forget approximately, do away with or quarratine it into their virus vault. you additionally can exchange a schedule for AVG to right away replace your computing device and do an entire test (you may purely create your guy or woman schedules on the professional version yet you may exchange the schedule for the two schedules offered interior the loose version). I even have McAffee own firewall plus yet you will ought to purchase it from a keep yet I even have have been given this loose from AOL (Dont like them yet my mom and dad offered it so I go through >_< lol) besides the undeniable fact that that software exchange into useful... besides the perfect loose firewall I had used in the previous McAffee is Zone Alarm because of the fact it has alot of large effective properties like Mcaffee so as which you will administration the inbound and outbound classes on your computing device, and you will block or enable them. there is likewise an selection the place you may exchange the protection on your firewall yet I wont advise the low placing or none in any respect because of the fact then you certainly would be liable to hacker assaults. Medium could ask you in case you % to allow complete get right of entry to or not and the intense get right of entry to is distinctive; you would be asked in case you % to allow a undeniable software to artwork purely on your computing device and it will ask you returned if it desires to income get right of entry to to the internet and finally theres a lockdown software, which doesnt enable something in any respect (it fairly is useful while you're away out of your computing device and you're uncertain what software ought to bypass by way of) So Basicly AVG loose and Zone Alarm own Firewall must be your new 2 perfect acquaintances =P

I would use Zonealarm for Antivirus and firewall and Lavasoft for your spyware blocker. They are both very good programs and can be obtained for very low pricing. I have used both well over 5 years and can say that I will never spend any more money than necessary on spyware. Hope that helps!

AVG and Antivir are both good and are free(but you know you cant put 2 antirus programs on at the one time)

But do you have antispyware programs? if not try windows bit defender, lavasoft adaware and spyware guard

And for a firewall try ZoneALarm Firewalll (not the full program which you have to pay for)

I prefer McAfee, but Norton usually get top rated. I dont like Norton because its for the less computer savvy person because it tries to block anything it thinks could be bad, while McAfee blocks only the higher level stuff. I once could not get connected to my server and I realized that Norton was blocking it, so I uninstalled it and got McAfee.

I work at IBM in IT...all of us are dumping the Norton,NcAfee, Avast, Zone Labs, etc. These may be good, but Windows Live One Care is now far better! I'd advise you and all other computer users to start using it. Check it out at http://www.windowsonecare.com/Default.aspx and click on all of the light blue links. IT IS NOW TIME TO START RUNNING THE BEST!
