That original hold was called an STF, before John Cena started using it, it was invented by Lou Thesz. It stands for Step-Over, Toe-hold, Facelock.

They simply changed the name of the hold to the STF-U to fit Cena's character and play on the STFU abbreviation of "shut the f*** up".

well stfu means shut the fu*k up, the original move, also done by william regal, is called the stf (stepover-toehold-facelock). Since he already has the FU, he just added the U to stfu, to make it stFU
