The meaning of holiday is Holy day. Everyday is a Holy day. It is miraculous how the grand artist him/her self makes all this happen. There are too many holidays as most are meaningless. Martin Luther King Day is one of the most important holidays and should be kept as he talked about dreaming of a bettter world. One of equal rights and respect.

Everyones always a little nicer around the winter holidays for some reason. When people ask me if I had a good Christmas, I always says that every day is Christmas for me.

There are too many holidays and it costs the us millions and millions in more taxes to pay for these holidays.

How about less holidays, less taxes and mandatory extra days off a week for all people in the US

A paid day off is a paid day off. Chance for time and a half for working - same thing. A chance to spend time with the family and look up the meanings of some of the holidays - nothing wrong with that.

The US doesn't have ENOUGH holidays, in my opinion. Nor does it have enough vacation time allotted to workers, but that is a different conversation.

I think the US has less national holidays than most western countries (except Japan)

You might not be the only one, but national holidays are a tradition that is not likely going away.

Some of the National holidays are silly such as national pickle month but there are some that are serious such as national breast cancer month and important to certain groups and certain people. You choose what you want to celebrate and just ignore the others.

i don't think of that way by way of fact on a daily basis celebrates the honoring of persons, w/c people as we communicate thoroughly ignore approximately. like in valentine's day, it honors the affection of people to their spouse. father's day and mom's day are celebrated to honor our mum and dad, on condition that we basically do this as quickly as a 12 months. maximum folk as we communicate thoroughly disrespects their mum and dad, so it is sturdy that those celebrations are nonetheless right here.
