in theory you should have 1.5GB...however, I would advise reading the Documentation that came with the laptop...you have to make sure the memory you buy matches what you currently have from speed to voltage some older laptops can be fickle...also make sure you can actually use the memory...even though a 1GB stick would fit the manufaturer and some motherboards may not allow the full use so at best you would only get 512MB use out of that 1GB you shelled out for...

*generally* you add memory in pairs. So most people would have two 512 chips OR 1 or 2 1gb chip. However this isn't really necessary.
So really you can do either. Of course if you add a new chip and your computer won't work, and you switch their slots and it still won't work, then take out the old chip and keep just the big chip.

If you have only 1 slot, you have to take out the 512mb and put in the 1gb stick.
If you have 2 slots you can use both slots and get 1.5gb.

it depends on if there is a free ram socket, eg there might be 2x 256mb ram on the laptop so it means taking 1 out and replacing it with the 1gb stick, if the laptop can support it.
or if it has 1 free socket, then u can run the laptop with 1.5gb of ram.

The Razer Blade is a hideously overpriced computer. to furnish a assessment, it is not even besides specced as a 17" Macbook professional (GPU is a tad quicker, lesser CPU, tiny stressfulcontinual, greater RAM, yet RAM is low-value), yet it fairly is fairly greater costly than the Macbook professional! once you won't be able to even experience a Mac in cost-to-specs then you certainly're fairly doing something incorrect. you may get a miles better gaming computer for 0.5 that cost! The Alienware is likewise hideously overpriced. What an utter humorous tale! you ought to construct that element for under 0.5 the cost! heavily, the two certainly one of them are an obscene ripoff. do not purchase the two. keep smart and you gets large overall performance for plenty under the two of those.

You should be able to just add the additional memory module. There should be a cover (usually on the bottom) that you unscrew to add more memory.
Your laptop user's guide should have complete details how to add more memory to your laptop. If you no longer have the user guide, it should be available from the laptop manufacture's website. See your user guide or contact the computer manufacture for more information.

If you have enough slots, you can add 1Gb and have 1.5, but you probably only have two slots and each is filled with 256 mb so you could end up with 1.25 Gb. ~

Most laptops have a panel underneath for additional RAM.
Some of them come with a RAM DIMM already in there in support of the default RAM. Replacing that RAM with a larger DIMM will increase your RAM.

I'm not a wiz either but I think computer memory is like a chip you have to install into your computer.
If you buy one, I think you can just add it to the computer, depending on the brand.
