No well defined external differences are discernable for male and female oscars although males tend to be larger and more colorful. They dont even reach sexuality maturity until they are about 7-9 inches.

If it's ahrd to tell and there over 8 weeks then i will suggest talking to a veternaian over this to determain, sometimes when there young you can't tell it know it's a fish sounds odd, also sometimes with coloring can help too even asking a vet over the phone you can determain this instead of taking your fish out of water to travel in a bag.

simple answer is you can't. Basically if you want to breed oscars, then you need to buy several pairs and have a huge tank with excellent quality water, then wait.
