Your question makes me realize that I'm not as big a fan of Wings as I thought I was. My best answer is that Denny provided excellent guitar work, and vocals to one of the greatest rock bands of all times.

He helped Paul write Mull of Kintyre , a big hit for the band. He, Paul and Linda, Paul's deceased wife, formed the band. He sang backup vocals and even sometimes lead vocals, His main contribution was probably his songwriting abilities.

His harmonies fit very well with Paul's lead and Linda's harmonies. His voice, although not as good by any stretch, was Lennon-like.
