I installed a thermal fiberglass blanket on our hot water heater yesterday, trimming it for size and around the access panels with a box cutter. I didn't wear any goggles or face mask. It's not like I was installing insulation in a whole attic or anything, just a 48''x75'' foil-covered sheet.

1. Minor fiberglass inhalation is okay?
2. I got some fibers on my clothes, will they come out in the wash? in the lint filter? or always be there a little bit?

Shake your clothes out briskly outside before washing, will get rid of most of the excess. If you dont feel itchy, you likely have none on your skin. Your exposure level is minimal, you are at greater risk breathing the air if you live in a major city due to air contaminants.

thee is no such thng as a minor fiberglass inhalation as any portion of it can induce a cancerous growth years upon years later.
Yes the Fiberglass manufacturers say no danger but the rules put in place reember coe from those who suffered from it and to protect from any eventuality.
The reason fiberglass stays is that its fibers when looked at in microscope have barbs, that hook themselves in the fibers of lung tissue and yes fabrics.
Workers within fiberglass industrys were once advised to not wash their clothes with familys clothes as fibers could lossen free and become attached to other clothes.
Yes the risk is miniscule but safety is primary concern is it not.
Having worked in dangerous occupations Logging and chemical industrys I have seen deaths and illness's caused by the lax way these saftey rulings are enforced, not just by company but by the "MACHO" boys as well. Fiberglass is doubly dangerous as it is chemnical resins, and many communitys are still fighting their own stae EPA groups over its dangers.
I would not worry as the lungs mucus will expell almost all.
No the stats do not show as much danger as in aspestos.
Get regular checkups etc etc.
WHY DO THEY PUT WARNING LABELS ON ITEMS?

once will not hurt you at all. years of exposure can cause permanent lung damage though. some fiberglass on your clothes will just make you itchy, and will wash out. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO NoT RUB YOUR EYES OR PUT YOURS HANDS IN YOUR MOUTH if you handled this with no gloves, trust me.

i used to install that crap, im sure it isn't the best for you , but the small amount you worked with i wouldn't worry about, it will wash out, and to get it off of you, just take a cool shower.

When I was little I would play in the stuff. Nothing ever happened, unless you get it in your eyes of course. Or eat mass amounts. But if you just touch it, you'll be fine.
