I guess they think IM language is the thing to do. Personally, I think it's one form of laziness. They are also training themselves to be poor spellers. If I had a dime for each time my students confused the following:
their
they're
there
are
our
weather
whether
witch
which
too
two
to
They think 'cause is the same as because and "I" does not need to be capitalized. It drives me crazy to see America, Europe, Britain, etc. not capitalized. I think it's safe to assume that they will make the same errors on job applications. They are creating poor habits that will hurt them later.

WHAT IS YOU'RE PROBLIM WITH TALKING ALL IN CAPS AND THEN NOT USING PUNCHUATION I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT B4 YOU MUST NOT USE THE INTERNIT MUCH Is that the kind of post you are talking about? I would say there are a could of things going on. 1) They think if they type in CAPS their post will stand out and get more attention. 2) It's the equivalent of shouting in real life. These are the type of loud obnoxious idiots you do not want to get trapped in a conversation with at a party and 3) They are just not very bright - which is why the punctuation and grammar is so bad. Now in my reply I misspelled obnoxious and grammar - but then I used the spell checker. These nimrods can't even do that - or they don't care about spelling either. It does get on my nerves, as it does to anyone who spends any appreciable amount of time online. Just try to ignore it. When you complain to them it's like trying to teach a bulldog to sing opera.

Because they are too lazy and inconsiderate of others to make their writing easily readable.
If I could, I would personally throttle the person who invented text messaging lingo. Given the frustration levels I have as a Junior High English teacher trying to get people to use words instead of symbols in formal writing, no jury would convict me.

It's a learned lingo, generally from msn... it makes it easier to talk to multiple people at once when you don't have to worry about punctuation and caps, and when you have shortened words and abbreviations that other people understand. I agree, it's annoying as hell, but some people (especially those who haven't yet mastered proper grammar) find it useful.

Because they probably don't know the correct way to write. I think writing in all caps is really annoying and makes the text difficult to read.

It drives me nuts too!! As a mother of 3, I want my kids to grow up knowing how to spell and punctuate properly. We actually had a teacher tell his class "You don't need to know how to spell, that's what spell check is for." Are you kidding me!?!?!
