A lot of carbs in a very good and well balanced meal. Many players in the NBA say that they eat pasta, or steak- something that can give you a lot of energy.

Don't eat anything heavy or fat.

Stay away from meats and dairy products.

Personally for me, on the day of the game I ate very little, sometimes nothing at all the entire day. If I did eat it'd usually be something low of fat and low on protein like fruit & vegetables. The day prior I also didn't eat alot. If you try it, don't worry, you won't starve and I doubt you'll feel tired (atleast I wasn't tired). I found that it improved my performance better than if I ate as normal. But not everyone is the same. Try new things and you'll find something that fits you best.

As for sleep, aim for 8-10 hours. That's the normal amount suggested and you don't really need more than the normal amount.

The night before a game you really should a well-balanced meal. For lunch, eat pasta or pancakes with syrup for your pre-game meal. And eat it at least 3 to 4 hours before you take the floor fro warm-ups.
